The Water Cycle 

I am learning to inform my audience through an explanation.

When you take a drink, do you ever stop to wonder where water came from or how it came to be? Maybe you drank water that cavemen drank millions of years ago? Maybe it could be from a plant! Maybe it came from the water cycle! The definition of a cycle is a series of events or steps that are repeated over and over. The water cycle is really simple anyone could understand it (except babies). 97 percent of water on earth is salt water, leaving the other 3 percent fresh water. The only problem is with freshwater, is that we can only drink 1 percent of the freshwater because either the water is groundwater or it’s ice. The water cycle consists of the three main stages, evaporation, condensation and precipitation. When precipitation ends, the water cycle will restart all over again. The first stage is evaporation.

When you look at your clothes on the clothesline, it may seem wet, but after a while, all the water’s gone off the clothes! This is because the sun evaporated the water off the clothes. It’s the same with the water cycle. The sun will heat up the water and the atoms in the water will move super fast, then the water steams up. And when all the steam is gone, it already has turned into vapour, which you cannot see. The sun will evaporate the water from the plant, but that has another name called transpiration. The heat from the sun will transpirate the water from the plant into steam and into vapor. The vapour now leads us to the next step of the water cycle, condensation.

The next step leading on from evaporation is condensation. An example of condensation is a hot shower. Since the water from the shower is already hot, the hot water will evaporate itself and when it meets the surface of the cold mirror, the mirror will become blurry. This also happens with the water cycle. When the water vapour has risen into the atmosphere, it reaches its dew point and starts to cool down and turn into very tiny water droplets. As the tiny water droplets fill the cloud, the cloud grows darker. The dark clouds leads us to the last step of the water cycle, precipitation.

The last step of the water cycle is precipitation. As the cloud grows darker, it fills up to its maximum limit of water droplets, causing it to rain. Rain state of matter being a liquid.. It can also fall as snow or hail this is its solid form, mist and fog in gas form. Rain that falls to earth that collects together forming a body of water is called collection. But if water falls onto soil, it may seep into the soil and become groundwater. And water that falls onto land, could take another route to a source of water. This is called surface runoff. And if the water falls into a moving stream, that is called streamflow.

In conclusion, the water cycle is something that we cannot live without. Every step is needed for the water cycle, or the water cycle will cease to exist. Evaporation turns and heats the water into steam, condensation, turning the vapour into clouds, and precipitation water falling back onto the ground or a water source. We should take more care of our water and should not pollute the water or else we wouldn’t have water.

I am learning to entertain my audience through a recount

Have you ever fallen down and landed on your back, not knowing how you fell off? Of course, all of you have! Before the sun was even up, we woke up early because we were going to my uncle’s house all the way doooooooooown in Hamilton. We got changed, packed up some pillows, blankets and then we were off. When I got there, I was really tired and the first thing I saw was the AWESOME house, but then came the second thing … the TV. It was playing Mamma Mia.

So a few hours later or an eternity for me at least, we went for a picnic. We ate food, chased ducks, and 

ate cake. I could see out the corner of my eyes the teenagers looking so smug with all their tricks on their skateboards. I wanted to look as smug as them , so I asked them if I could have a go. I was trying so hard not to show that I was scared on the skateboard, but inside I was wondering what had I gotten myself into.

Building up my confidence I was ‘Grinding’ and Chilling’ looking very smug at this stage. I felt like a Pro and decided I had to go faster and really show those teenagers. But then the ‘Crasher’ my cousin had entered the stage. He had wanted to crash my performance. He took out the flaming skateboard of doom and challenged me to a duel. I had not choice but to accept. I got ready… One, Two, Three! Foot on the skateboard, foot on the ground, pushing harder for more friction, then…Crash!

I fell off the skateboard, dropping backwards, losing all control. My whole body ached in pain, my hands hurt, my back hurt, everywhere hurt. However my cousin on the other hand. was ok though. The only thing he said was …”YEET.” Walking off in shame I grabbed some cake, Doritos, Mountain Dew and lots of blueberries to help me feel better while I sat there in pain. But I still “Grind” to this day.

WHY BOARD GAMES ARE DUMB

Why board games are dumb
Have you ever seen some kid losing to some stranger on chess? Have you ever lost some game called Monopoly? Have you lost your fun in Game of Life?
Have you ever lost to a cheater that plays Connect 4 when he connected only three?
Well? That’s happened to me. Do you know some other board games aside from Chess and Monopoly? You know why? Cause they’re all dumb. They even have the word Bored in the word.(It only sounds like the word Bored and Board) If there were a Board Games Championship, There shouldn't even be one. It's just win or lose, lose or win all over again.
So, I have a point. Points that will force you to stop you playing board games.

First reason:Rage. Whenever someone loses, they get raged. Like me. I landed on my brother’s property on Monopoly and I had no money. And then the next turn, I get in prison. I mean, no one would bail me out but just visit me. And in Snakes/Chutes/Slides and Ladders, I was on the number 49, but then, I go to 35!?!
And my Brother/Sister/Friend was on the number 48. How was I supposed to defeat him/her now!?! I should've climbed that slide to the finish.

Second Reason: Rules. When you are so close to winning? Rules. When you are rich but lose money? Rules. Rules happen. Like UNO. There is lots of types of UNO. But UNO Emoji is the worst. My brother doesn't even know the rules. When I get a card full of Emojis, I have to get 5 more cards! Is there another card that gives you 5 more cards!?! Did I not get told?
Third Reason:Family Game Night.
You know that day when you and your family spend time together by playing a board game that is called “Family Game Night?” I do not like it.
Why can’t we watch a “Movie” Mum? Why can’t we go to “Sleep” Dad?
Why can’t we play “Video games?”
I think why family game night is supported because your “parents” want to make you embarrassed and make it look like you are the “Best Family Ever!!”

Last reason: People that don’t know how to play. Have you ever gotten soooooo much Pokemon Cards but don’t know how to play? It’s Neopets all over again.
And do you know how much energy's do you need? Twice the amount of your total Pokemon Cards. Why there should there be a Pokemon Card Tournament?
People don’t even know how to play!
They should call “UNO!” when they’ve defeated all their enemies.

And that’s why board games are dumb. It’s because you rage, those board games have Dumb Rules and Family Game Night is Dumb and people don’t know how to play.
All those stuff above this, is all board games.
And if you are a board game creator, tell another board game creator to stop and tell another board game creator to stop and another board game creator to stop and another board game creator to stop and another board game creator to stop and another board game creator to stop and another board game creator to stop and another board game creator to stop and another board game creator to stop and another board game creator to stop another board game creator to stop.
And if you don’t enjoy your board games,
Burn them or sell it to your next door neighbour.

Anzac Project

Yesterday on Thursday, we did an ANZAC project. Our teacher was the only teacher to get it. When she received it, she took it out and there was a lot of Anzac stuff in it. She gave us a person each to study and put it on a Document or a Slide. Our one was Alexander Robertson(Alex Robertson) My friend got a map of something but he didn't get time to do it. Comics

Today on Wednesday 7th November, we drew comics with Josh/ Mr. Drummond. We learnt how to make our drawings better and he also showed us our "AWESOME OWL PAINTING". We had him to come in because our new topic for writing is comics. This comic is about the three creatures, Chicken Man, Fat Guy Who Ate A City and Waffle turtle. This is what is happening. So Waffle Turtle wants to swim, but the others want to swim on Waffle turtle. So they did. At first, they were enjoying it and were happy. But then they sank because waffle turtle was not made for this. ( I'm telling this to you because it will be blurry when you try to read it)

South island robins

What is not endangered and comes and flies from the south?
It’s the South Island Robin.The south island robin is one of the sparrow sized birds in New Zealand. It weighs up to 35 grams in weight and is 10 -18 cm in length. Unlike the kiwi, it can fly. The south island robin’s tweet is very loud. The original name for it was Petroica australis.

What a south island robin eats
The South Island Robin’s diet could be invertebrates. It eats earthworms, cicadas, stick insects, tree wetas and slugs.

South island robin’s appearances:
It appears in forests and scrub habitats. Scrub habitats are a habitat with desert dunes and trees and shrubs. It is only native to New Zealand

If it’s endangered or not
The South Island Robin isn’t endangered because it lives in the South Island.
There are still lots but it's still decreasing.

How it lays eggs and how long it can live up to
South Island Robins start making their nests in July to get ready.
Then they start laying eggs in December. The female robins only lay 2-4 eggs. They can live up to 6 to 13 years old. It’s activities are pellet casting, anting and sunbathing.

What it symbolizes
Some birds have symbolism like a robin symbolizes renewal and new birth.
It is also called the spring bird because it sings a spring song and brings luck.
If you see one, people consider that you will be very lucky.
Even if you have a robin totem pole!

The Red Fox is one of the seven species of foxes.They are related to dogs.They actually came from North America and Europe.

Here is some more information about them.

The Red Foxes habitat belongs in the Grasslands, Deserts, Mountains,Forests, Suburban areas.

They are not really endangered. There are still lots in the wild.
Because we still hunt them but they are still not endangered.

Babies life cycle:

The male Fox and the female fox will mate.

The female Fox will make 1 to 10 kits after mating.The female fox will
dig dens while the male fox will find some food.

The red fox’s diet: for a diet, red foxes can eat berries, grasses and fruit.Foxes can eat fish or seafood, squirrels, birds and other animals.

The red fox can change white in snowy winters to keep safe from predators in the snow.In the summer and spring, the red fox’s fur is

dirt brown to camouflage with the dirt or trees.

The Red Foxes hunt anytime, especially at night
because some foxes are nocturnal. They start off by stalking or
following their prey. When their prey stops, they pounce when it’s time

Foxes aren’t dangerous to people but some are because they are rabid.

Life cycle of a star

WALT: to explain how stars work.
Stars are everywhere. When you look into the night sky, you can see them.
In the daytime you can’t see them but they’re still there.
First phase. Protostar
A star’s life cycle depends on its mass in it’s nebula.
The cloud where it was born.
The more mass,the shorter the life cycle.
The mass is determined by the amount of matter.The star starts to spin faster and faster until it reaches 15,000,000 degrees.
This means it has become a protostar.


Second phase.Red giant
As the star glows,hydrogen in the star’s
Core is changed by the nuclear fusion.
When the hydrogen supply in the star’s core runs out,the star won’t be generating heat anymore and, the core will be unstable and shrink.
The outer shell of the star will still grow larger.As it grows larger, it will cool and glow red.It has become a red giant.
It is red because in the core of the red giant, the helium has joined into the carbon.


Third phase.White or black dwarf
If the red giant doesn't have enough mass to create the core temperatures,near 1 hundred billion, required to combine lots of carbon and oxygen created at its center.When it sheds its outer layer,there will be a ring shaped shell of gas leaving its core behind.
Over the years,maybe billions of centuries, the white dwarf will cool and become a black dwarf.

The Last phase,Supernova.
Then the red giant becomes a red super giant triggered nearby a white dwarf which makes a supernova then ends up like a black hole or a neutron star.
That's how a stars life cycle goes.
It was very long but that's how a life cycle goes!

Senses poem about Apia

My birthday

The Morning

On my birthday 17th February 2018 I went to Jump.

In the morning my Dad and Mum said “Happy Birthday!” my Dad’s brother said happy birthday to me also. When I went to the Lounge I saw my brother playing /watching on the old Computer that still works. He was watching Teen Titans Go! on netflix. He said happy birthday and good morning to me also. For breakfast I had corn beef and egg. I didn’t eat corn beef so I didn’t eat that instead I had tuna and egg .Then I watched Tad the lost explorer.

The Afternoon

In the afternoon my Dad called me to come with him because we were going to buy my present from Toy co. When I got into the car I got to sit in the front seat. When we were halfway there my Dad put on the air con and I yawned a lot. When we got to Toy co I couldn't find the Bey-blades but my Dad said”Maybe it’s on the other side” and he found it! The Bey blades there was:Genesis Valtryek V3 but my Dad spotted the best one!!! Storm Star stadium with Valtryek V3 and Satomb S3!!! Whoa! XD so we bought it for a deal,me and dad I have to pretend I was so surprised when I open it. So he bought it. When we got home he locked the bedroom door and started wrapping.When I went to the lounge my cousin Victor was here and was already halfway through Tad the lost explorer. A few minutes later, we got in the car and drove to Classic Bake house and picked up my cake. It was Denis daily riding on a tron bike out of the galaxy. Then my Dad drove us to Jump.(If you want to know where it was I think it was at East Tamaki)

The Wait

When we got there my dad took out a bag of twisties and we ate some. Then we went into Jump.It was full of people! I got excited. We just had to wait for my cousins.  I ate a few more twisties then there was no more. My mom fed me some chiffon cake. (which looks like bread but softer)After that I watched my brother skate nearly everywhere. 15 Minutes later... our cousins came.Now we have to wait for my dad’s brother. 5 minutes later…

His brother is here. Yay! I can go into Jump now.

The Party

We went in but… We had to wait for the time to get to 5:00!?!?!? It was only 4:48 but time was running fast and I got to my party fast so first I went to the free jumping place then I went and jumped into the foam pit...oh.! The dodge ball place! So we started and we did Boys vs Girls. DODGE BALL EXTREME!!!!! So we started but we kept on losing so tough luck on us but some people joined in and went hard on us. There was lots of people in the the girls team so XP

The restaurant

(I skipped the other parts because I didn’t have time to write it all so sorry)

After the party we went to a place called Momotea.

They served yummy Malaysian food like spring rolls, Boba tea, noodles, Fried rice, crispy chicken with soft bones you can chew through, Tofu and milkshakes.

After that, we went home and tested out the bey blades and there was also new launchers.

My favourite bey blade would be Valtryek V3. He had a cool move called Genesis Reboot.

Genesis Reboot is when Valtryek’s tip turns on and spins around the stadium.

Satomb S3’s move was Roller Drift.

It uses the wheels on it’s tip to help it spin.

And then I ate some cake.

How a movie is made

WALT:write a piece that explains how something works.

How a Movie is Made

Hello, I am going to explain how a movie is made.

The first step is to write a script for the actors and draw what is going to happen.

The first step of cartoon is to draw the cartoon.

The second step is to get the actors and get the items ready.

For cartoon you need to do an ask for people if they’re interested for doing voices for the characters.The second step for cartoon is to,take a picture of your scenes that have been drawn and put them on a movie making website.

Third, set the scene, green screen or a real place to film.Then film the scenes.

The third step for cartoon is to play and add colour to it.

Fourth, put the jumbled scenes in order.

If it still looks jumbled up, put them in a different order.

Fifth, send your movie to a good director. If you did a cartoon, send it to a cartoon director. If he says that it's good you have a movie.

If he says it’s bad,put them in a different order or refilm the scenes

You've got yourself a movie! you can keep on making movies or just stop.

It might get watched in the cinema!

Once (NZ version)

The Nazis are back.

Once on a stormy day the Nazis came back from their graves and here to hunt their target  down.

New Zealand.

One afternoon in school,kids were playing,teachers were looking out and talking,Year 6 kids were doing their job…

The destruction of the school

BANG! CRASH! BOOM!

That’s the sound of… guns!

The Nazis rolled into our school taking children and trying to shoot people.

Tanks came rolling in and shooting the office building,the hall,the Rooms,the big Tree,the Turf but lastly the Playground!

All I could see is blood splatters everywhere.

I was blinded by the of the sound of the gunshots.

I had to run…

BANG

I fell on the ground. I had no vision. Is this a dream?

Everyone all ran inside the office building and someone dragged me.

“Wake up! Wake up! Wake up! Is he dead?”James said

My sight was blurry and all I could see was some kids then I woke up.I stood up.

I took some cards out of my pocket.”Everyone form a circle!”

They formed a circle and I put 1 card on the floor.

“How did you make those uni-dimension cards”  Victor said

“I made them in spare time. Ninja Zolton come out!”I said

A flash of lightning came.”Hey! what do you need?”Ninja Zolton said

I said “Can you zap the Nazi tank please?”

“Yes! I’ll go lightning fast! Hey Nazis! Look at this!”

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!

“The tanks stopped moving! I’ll press the red button now!”I said

So I pressed it but James pushed me out of the way!

“Hey! I was gonna push the button! ” I said

The Gss Robot

“Woah” everyone said “Have a seat” Mrs Hann said and some seats popped out with food.

“What does this do” I said “Woah!” everyone said.

“Sorry” I said “We are all a part of a body?”

“Yep”Kevin said “Definitely” said James.

The Nazis ran away.”Yeah! Woo Hoo! What are they anyway?” everyone says

“Nazis” I said “Adolf Hitler is back”

“You mean from Once and Then You mean” said Otis

WHIRR! WHIRR! WHIRR!

He’s coming back!

Adolf hitler has a Nazi-bot?!?!

They’re armed! Missiles,Flamethrowers,Swords!

We attack them but they’re too strong!

“MORE FIREPOWER” I said

Nazis are destroyed

The Nz robot hears us and combines with us into GSSBOT x 100,000,000,000

Then Felix comes out of the clouds

We do a special move, the Holy blast!

We get in a kamehameha pose from dragon ball z and blast them with Holy blast and we destroy them.

Light bursts out and melts the Nazi-bot.

“Yeah!! WHOO HOO!! Awesome!! NO MORE EVIL YAY!!!! Free from evil!!” everyone says

Adolf hitler is a robot!?!?

Adolf hitler spoke in a foreign language...

He pressed a button… BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

We ran to to the up top playground and ran for cover.  BEEP BEEP BOOM

We ran back to the school.

There was lightning statics with his body and out of his head we saw a dynamite!?

“RUN ARRRRRGH!!” everyone said.”SO HE IS STILL DEAD!?!”Kevin screamed

“YEAH”I said

The spark was nearly there but then… huh?

No explosion? It was a trick!! Destroy it! Tear it apart!

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

BOOM

“UMMMMM”I said “Ouch! Whaddya wanna do now?”

THE END

The scary storm

We are writing a senses poem about what happened last night in the storm

I see the light-bulb crackling creepily

I hear the lightning striking loudly

I smell the scent of fear

I taste my delicious dinner

I feel the smooth surface of my sister's computer

It makes me frightfully scared.

The Hotel

The hotel was usual enough. it had: 

A cozy hammock, a salty beach, some heavy boats, a shiny new karaoke machine and a huge radar on the top of the hotel building. 

My half annoying cousins, my Lola and Lolo and my family did what night owls do-

Stay up until 2:00 am, Swim at night for 2 hours, create a sandy saltwater beach spa and building a bonfire on the beach.
